Saturday - Stir crazy.....
Just to be out side, we've driven to Lincoln. Ah - fresh air and a change of location. Very very cold everywhere!

Walk to the pub!
Yep - that is what we'll do - walk to the pub since the snow looks so beautiful and the sky is now so blue. It takes us 30 minutes to walk from Nocton to Potterhansworth. It is beautiful and the snow is extraordinarily crisp and powdery. We take photos, we pose, we shoot some film.
We get to the pub. It's closed i.e. not going to open. We know not why! No pub grub for us today!

The oil - it is arriving!
The oil arrived this am at 8.30. Yes - that's 8.30 a.m!! In the morning, in a heavy snowstorm and we're still in bed.
Carol got down stairs faster than me. ........to let the driver in to the enclosed area where the tank is.
After all a man has to look his best to take delivery of his first oil tanker! He'd only let us have 1000 litres given that everyone was desperate for the stuff. Who can afford it at this price? Certainly not us.
It's still snowing but we have some oil! We can bask in the newly acquired heat - all day. Go on switch the boiler to high!
It's going to be hot in Nocton tonight!

Sweating on the oil at Nocton.......
We've never had central heating driven by oil before.
So, how do you determine when the oil is getting low?
We didn't really know it but we have this device that you plug into the socket and it reads off some signal to provide you the information. Clever! But is it accurate.
Anyway we have been nonchalantly using this device on/off since October and the level has gone from 7 edging gradually downwards. What we hadn't done was take readings over Xmas when we had the boiler running all day!!!!!!!!
Horror when we took a reading over the weekend and we were on 4 - now down to 3!!
Ring the suppliers! Urgently!

Monday - a trip to the station in the snow
We've cleaned the car down - what a chore in the snow and are ready for the trip to Lincoln.........
Not too bad at all - most of the roads appear to have been gritted and other than the village free of snow. It was just those first couple of miles to get to the main roads - but nothing too difficult.
Train was in and on time - so when Gladys was safely on board we made it back to Nocton.
Snow showers are getting to be a bore now.

Resting Day....and a Sunday Roast.
Well all our plans are out of the window with the snow we've been getting. Today, though we had planned to go nowhere - just to have a good Sunday roast at home - which is what we're doing.
Also need to talk to G about whether she is staying on to travel to Barnsley with us on Thursday or to go back sooner. I think the weather will be the determiner!
Decision virtually made - G will go back by train on Monday all being well with the snowfalls in the Lincoln area.

Trip to Doddington
Saturday 2nd January and we've planned to go to Doddington for a Brunch. But the snow's been coming down and we can't get very far today. So it's batten down the hatches and watch some sport on TV!!!!!!
