Xmas - A Digital ghost for another Year

Well it's come and gone at Nocton.

All that planning, all that activity and business and worry - all gone now in whiffs of memory, Black bags of coloured paper, empty champagne bottles. There are remnants of cheeses and game pie. No turkey thank the gods. Echos down the digital cameras, forgotten moments confined to thumbsnail images. Some never to be encountered again.

On Saturday we've booked ourselves some seats at Nocton Church for a concert of Xmas & Choral music. Should be a real treat.

Snow expected at Nocton 2009

Nocton Hall, LincolnshireImage by L-plate big cheese via Flickr
It's not yet too cold for Winter but the predictions are all about snow and more snow at Nocton, Lincs. And soon. Probably tomorrow 17th December.

I don't think we'll be going anywhere too far......tomorrow!!! It would be really nice to see Nocton Hall covered in a layer of snow.

Our First Xmas Local Post at Nocton

IMG_2686Image by gorseinonboy via Flickr
We don't really know our neighbours yet. We've stopped and said hello to a few but not really established contact in a meaningful way. Carol's thinking of doing a Coffee club along the lines of the one in Limoges but hasn't made a move.

Anyway we had our first Xmas card from a neighbour at No 5! Lovely!

The trees are up today.....

Yes - the trees are up and the decorations and some lights above the garage. We're in business for Christmas 2009. I'm tired now though. Been at it all day. Looking forward to my lamb chops and some different trimmings!

Must get the tree up this weekend.

Only 2 weeks before Xmas and we haven't moved the tree from the garage. It's still in the box. But Carol has tested the lights and they're all working.

Nocton is a pretty village with some great houses, open spaces and wonderful trees. But it also has LITTER, the blight of modern UK!

Litter here and there and there and there.

Something needs to be done...........

The Chequers, Potterhamworth

Lincolnshire sausage dinner - Eurostar Cuisine...Image via Wikipedia
Celebrating Gladys' birthday today by going to the restaurant at The Chequers, Potterhamworth. I think we've booked a Xmas Lunch so it won't be Lincs sausages today. Perhaps a visit to Heighington Fair in the afternoon.

Where's the recession? Not in Lincoln

Lincolnshire FlagImage via Wikipedia
Well there's a recession, so they tell us.

Been going on for a couple of years - deep & entrenched.

But Where does this beast exist? Not on the streets of Lincoln.....as far as I can see. We've just experienced our first few weeks in the city and its vibrant and busy. There are some serious shoppers here.

Nocton Church in the twilight

Just as the sun was going down we shot some pics of the Church........2009.

Harmonica for Xmas

I've just put in a request to have an Harmonica for Xmas. Don't really know why. I've never been musical other than singing in the shower. Anyway - here goes - it'll be all blues and soul around Nocton this Christmas.

Lincoln Xmas Market, 2009

I'm thrilled.

Arrangements are in hand for a night out at Lincoln Xmas Market.

We're meeting with friends and touring the environs of Bailgate to savour some mulled wine and perhaps more. Never been to a proper Xmas market before although my wife has been to several on the Continent. She recommends Prague although very cold in December.

Wonder how the 2 cities compare?

Can't remember......

Did I take this shot yesterday near Mablethorpe or last year in Marienbad? Well, I may as well claim that it's Mablethorpe which will give it a little local flavour. Could have been anywhere, anytime by anyone.

Good things......

Good things can start anytime, so I'm starting this blog today. Perhaps my notes will turn out to be rather good not like the weather which is a little "Decemberish" if you know what I mean. Things have turned in the last few days from being temperate, moderate and well-behaved to much colder and harsh. The frosty coat on the car took minutes to clear yesterday and now its cloudy-over, grey and mushy blue.

Been to the Doctors at Metheringham this morning. They wanted some blood so being a generous one I gave them 4 phials. Lovely little Practice housed in a Nissan hut equivalent - but everyone smiles even the receptionists.
